The Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTS) of Thailand has released statistics on the number of foreign visitors to Thailand in April 2025.
According to data released by MOTS, the number of foreign visitors to Thailand in April 2025 was 2,547,116. This is a significant decrease of 173,341 people, as the number in March was 2,720,457.
There was a decrease of approximately 589,000 people from January to February, approximately 399,000 people from February to March, and approximately 173,000 people from March to April, resulting in a very large decrease of approximately 1.16 million people in three months. Thailand has entered the low season of extreme heat with the temperature rising considerably since April, but it is difficult to explain the significant decrease as being due solely to the influence of this. The number of tourists from China and Malaysia, which have the largest numbers of arrivals, increased slightly in April. On the other hand, the number of tourists from Japan has dropped significantly. The number of Japanese tourists dropped from 109,173 in March to 58,152 in April, a significant drop of about half. Thailand is now entering the rainy season, and the weather will become more comfortable. We sincerely hope that the number of tourists from overseas will increase from May onwards, revitalizing Thailand's tourism industry.
