Food delivery service "Food Panda" withdraws from Thailand

Food Panda, a food delivery service developed by Germany's Delivery Hero, will end its service in Thailand on May 23, 2025.

The reason given is "optimization of geographic strategy." It appears that the service will continue in the Asia-Pacific region itself.

Food Panda's share of the Thai food delivery market was less than 15%, and it was struggling. Lineman topped the list with 44%, followed by Grab with 39.4%. The market size is estimated at 86 billion baht (equivalent to 370 billion yen).

Food Panda recorded a loss of 13.8 billion baht from 2014 to 2023. It attempted to sell its Thai food service to Grab last year in 2024, but failed.

Food Panda's withdrawal from Thailand is only for delivery services. Marketing, human resources, and other operations in the Asia-Pacific region will continue to be carried out by a team based in Thailand.
