China's SAIC Motor begins delivery of 2.5 million baht high-end EV minivan "Maxus 9" in Thailand

MG Sales (Thailand), which sells MG brand vehicles in Thailand under the umbrella of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited Group, a major Chinese automaker, announced that it will deliver a new electric vehicle (EV) minivan MG Maxus 9 on May 10, 2023. They will deliver 500 units by June 2023.

It has a 7-seater capacity and a cruising range of 540 km. The selling price starts from 2.5 million baht. They started accepting reservations in March 2023.

"The 23rd Thai Festival Tokyo" to be held at Yoyogi Park on May 20-21, 2023

The Royal Thai Embassy in Japan will hold the 23rd Thai Festival Tokyo from May 20th (Sat) to 21st (Sun), 2023 at Yoyogi Park (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo). This event promotes friendship between Thailand and Japan through traditional Thai culture, food, music, performances, and exhibitions.

The outline of the 23rd Thai Festival Tokyo is as follows.
Date: Saturday, May 20, 2023 - Sunday, May 21, 2023
Time: 10:00~20:00
Location: Yoyogi Park Event Square

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will set up a dedicated booth at the event. TAT booth will be set up near the "Harajuku Exit Gate", and they plan to provide the latest information on tourism in Thailand, from basic information that is essential for traveling to Thailand to sightseeing spots and activities, as well as accommodation, gourmet food, shopping, and events. The theme of this year's TAT booth is Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. The landmark is the main hall of Wat Si Suphan, the world's first unique temple made of silver, also known as the Silver Temple.

Thailand, inflation rate of 2.67% in April 2023

Thailand's consumer price index (CPI, 2019=100) in April 2023 was 107.96, up 2.67% from the same month of the previous year and up 0.19% from the previous month. It was the lowest year-over-year increase in 16 months.

Thailand's April 2023 inflation rate stood at 2.67%, down from his 2.83% the previous month and broadly in line with market expectations of 2.70%. The inflation rate was above 7% from May to August 2022, but has slowed since September 2022, and down to the current inflation rate.

Inflation is 2.67% in April 2023, the lowest since December 2021, especially in meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy, fruit and vegetable foods and non-alcoholic beverages (4.53% in March). % vs. 5.22%) was a major contributing factor. Meanwhile, non-food costs accelerated (1.39% vs. 1.22%) due to higher utility bills. Core consumer prices eased to 1.66% from 1.75% previously, slightly below expectations of a 1.70% rise.

Thailand will collect the entry fee "Thailand Tourism Fee: TTF" from September 1, 2023 (300 baht)

The Thai government previously decided to collect the Thailand Tourism Fee (TTF) from 1 June 2023 when foreign tourists enter Thailand. However, due to system deficiencies, etc., the start date of the system has been postponed.

Collection of this Thai entry fee will start on September 1, 2023. Discussions are currently underway with airlines to determine the appropriate collection method in accordance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations. The entry fee is 300 Baht per person.
