Bangkok Urban Railway Purple Line extend its section and starts construction within the year
Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) approved the contractor of the extension section of the urban railway purple line in the Bangkok metropolitan area at the board meeting on February 24th.
There are 6 contracts for 5 civil engineering sections and 6 track laying, totaling about 82 billion baht. The largest Thai general contractor, Italian Thai Development (ITD), etc. will receive orders. A contract is scheduled to be signed in March.
The existing section of the Purple Line is a total length of 23 km connecting Khlong Bang Phai Station in Nonthaburi Province in the northwestern suburbs of Bangkok and Tao Poon Station in Bang Su District in the northern part of Bangkok. This section was opened in 2016.
The extension section goes south from Tao Poon Station, 23.6 km to Kharu Nai Station in Samut Prakan Province, south of Bangkok, 17 stations. 13.6 km is underground and 10 km is elevated above ground. On the way, it will pass under the Chao Phraya River in a tunnel.
Construction will begin by the end of the year, with the aim of opening in 2027.

Lao Airlines resumes scheduled flights between Vientiane and Bangkok from March 1st
Lao Airlines has announced that it will resume scheduled flights between Vientiane and Bangkok, Thailand from March 1.
It operates twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays and uses Airbus A320 aircraft. The scheduled flight schedule is as follows.
Vientiane ⇔ Bangkok (March 1, 2022 ~)
