Landslide and flash flood warnings issued in southern Thailand

In light of the prolonged heavy rains that are expected to continue until December 17, the Department of Mineral Resources of Thailand has issued a warning that landslides and flash floods may occur in southern Thailand.

Specifically, warnings have been issued for 10 provinces, including Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, Ranong, Songkhla, Phatthalung, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat.

Currently, the soil has become soft due to heavy rains exceeding 100 mm, increasing the possibility of disasters. Local residents should pay attention to timely warnings from the disaster monitoring network. In addition, please remain vigilant and prepare for evacuation as the situation changes.

"Tom Yum Goong" and "Kebaya" Recognized by UNESCO

Thai hippopotamus "Mudeng" selected as one of the "63 Most Stylish People of 2024" by the New York Times

Bangkok becomes the "world's most visited city in 2024"

More than 32.4 million international travelers will visit Bangkok in 2024, making it the "world's most visited city in 2024".

In this ranking published by Euromonitor International, Bangkok solidifies its position as a global tourism leader, surpassing Istanbul, Turkey, with 23 million visitors, and London, UK, with 21.7 million.

Bangkok's rise to the top is due to its tourist-friendly policies, famous cuisine, and affordable cost of living. Major initiatives such as a 60-day visa waiver for citizens of 93 countries and the extension of visa-on-arrival privileges to 31 countries have significantly increased the ease of visiting Bangkok.

The top 10 most visited cities in 2024 are Istanbul in second place, followed by London, Hong Kong, Mecca, Antalya, Dubai, Macau, Paris, and Kuala Lumpur. These cities have visitor numbers ranging from 23 million to 16.5 million.

Biometric authentication system introduced for international passengers at six major airports in Thailand
