Lopburi city of ruins begins operation to capture overpopulated monkeys

Located on the western edge of the Korat Plateau, Lopburi is believed to have been an important powerhouse in Southeast Asia from the 7th to the 14th century, with many important historical sites and prehistoric settlements discovered there.
Lopburi is also famous for its large flocks of monkeys (cynomolgus macaques).

However, in Lopburi, there have been a number of cases of cynomolgus macaques attacking people and shops, and there have been growing calls for the authorities to take countermeasures.

In response to these calls, authorities began work to capture and transport the monkeys to a facility on May 23rd. We aim to capture over 300 fish using box traps.
