Suvarnabhumi Airport Satellite Terminal Soft Opens on September 28, 2023
Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport's Satellite Terminal (SAT-1) soft opened on September 28, 2023. During the soft opening period, operations will be limited to a limited number of airlines and flights.

There is a distance of approximately 1 km between the main terminal and the satellite terminal, and it is possible to move between the two terminals by APM (The Automated People Mover), a new transportation system that runs underground.

The satellite terminal has 4 floors above ground and 2 floors underground. The 2nd floor is the arrival floor, the 3rd floor is the departure floor, the top 4th floor is the lounge, etc., and the 2nd basement floor is the APM boarding and alighting floor. There are a total of 28 boarding gates. Of that, the 8 gates accommodate large aircraft such as A380s and B747-8s.

Previously, Suvarnabhumi Airport's annual passenger capacity was 45 million, but with the opening of the satellite terminal, this has increased to 60 million. It is expected that congestion will be alleviated.
