Thai Lion Air resumes Bangkok-Colombo route from August 15
Low-cost airline Thai Lion Air has announced that it would resume direct flights between Bangkok and Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 15 August 2023.

After the resumption, the flight will be operated three times a week. The aircraft used is a Boeing 737-800 (189 economy seats).

The scheduled flight schedule is as follows.
Bangkok (Don Mueang) ⇔ Colombo (From August 15, 2023)

Music event "FUTURE OF ASIA" to be held to commemorate the "50th anniversary of Japan-ASEAN friendship and cooperation"
To commemorate the "50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation", a joint production concert by Japanese and Thai musicians is planned with the aim of promoting cultural exchange between Japan and ASEAN through music and artistic activities.

From Japan, the talented group includes the Japanese instrumental unit "AUN & HIDE,'' consisting of twin wadaiko players from Ondekoza and , a musical instrumentalist from Kodo will participate. "AUN & HIDE" is active all over the world including the performances in four East Asian countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia) as 2011 cultural exchange ambassadors of the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs.

From Thailand, main vocal Aoy and traditional instrument player from the fusion band "ASIA7", which is rapidly gaining popularity with its sound that fuses ethnic and western instruments, will perform a special stage only for this performance.

AUN & HIDE and "ASIA7" formed a special unit for this tour. The unit name is "FUTURE OF ASIA". The "variegated tones" woven by the traditional musical instruments of both countries, such as Japanese drums, shamisen, shinobue, pin, and cane, and the "beautiful harmony" of the vocals are in perfect harmony, creating an "impressive resonance" that echoes in the listener's heart. Please look forward to a moving stage that depicts the peaceful future of Asia with music.

To commemorate the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on August 12, 2023, a Japanese-made steam locomotive will be operated between Bangkok and Chachoengsao.
State Railways of Thailand (SRT) will operate a special steam locomotive-powered tourist train between Bangkok and Chachoengsao on Saturday, August 12, 2023, on Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's birthday, it's Mother's Day in Thailand. The locomotives used are Pacific 824 and Pacific 850 made in Japan.

The train schedule for the day is as follows.

9:50am Arrive at Chachoengsao Station

4:30pm Depart from Chachoengsao Station

6:10pm Arrive at Bangkok Station

It makes short stops at Bangkok's Makkasan, Khlong Thanh, and Hua Mak stations to pick up and disembark passengers.

Round trip fare is 299 baht for 3rd class, 799 baht for air-conditioned vehicle. Prices include snacks and drinks.

Tickets are on sale from 8:30 on July 14th. Reservations can be made through the mobile app "D-ticket" or at train stations nationwide.

Two Bangkok Restaurants Make World's 50 Best Restaurants List
Bangkok's Le Du (No. 15) and Gagan Anand (No. 17) have been included in the World's 50 Best Restaurants list compiled by UK-based William Reed Business Media.

These two restaurants are owned by celebrity chefs Thitid "Ton" Tassanakajohn and Gaggan Anand respectively. Chef Thitid and Chef Gaggan Anand were globally recognized for their exceptional culinary skills and innovative approach.

From 50th onwards, four Thai restaurants made the top 100: Sorn (56th), Sühring (72nd), Nusara (74th) and Potong (88th).

Now, Thai restaurateurs and chefs are spreading the word about Thai gastronomy to the world, and the country is beginning to gain a global reputation as a gourmet destination.
