Thai Lion Air To Charge Checked Baggage For Lion Promo Bookings Starting July 1st
Low-cost airline Thai Lion Air previously offered free checked baggage up to 10kg on domestic flights and 20kg on international flights. However, for bookings made on or after July 1, 2023, with flight dates on or after July 15, 2023, checked baggage of ticket type of Lion Promo (the cheapest ticket type) is charged.

If the ticket type is Lion Economy, there is no additional charge for domestic flights up to 10kg (1 piece) and international flights up to 20kg (maximum 2 pieces). Also, carry-on baggage up to 7kg is free of charge for all types of ticket.

Siam Paragon in Bangkok will hold an event to celebrate the 136th anniversary of Japan-Thailand relations from July 6-9, 2023
From July 6th to 9th, 2023, the event "Siam Paragon The Wondrous Japan Heritage" will be held at Parc Paragon (Siam Paragon Square) in Bangkok to celebrate the 136th anniversary of Japan-Thailand exchange.

At "Siam Paragon The Wondrous Japan Heritage", a show by former sumo wrestlers will also be held. Various Japanese culture and products will also be introduced.

Thailand Tourism Authority (TAT) will hold event to experience Legendary Muay Thai Boran or Ancient Thai Boxing
From June to August 2023, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will organize an event where you can experience the legendary Muay Thai Boran or ancient Thai boxing in 4 styles (4 dates, 4 venues).

Each of the four venues will host classes and activities that focus on the Muay Thai bolan technique unique to each region. The four venues are Muay Chaiya of the Southern region, Muay Korat of the Northeastern region, Muay Tha Sao of the Northern region, and Muay Lop Buri of the Central Region.

A summary of each event is below.

1st event
Dates: June 30th to July 2nd, 2023
Venue: Naris Bridge (By Tapi River, Surat Thani)
Experience content: Muay Chaiya
They will demonstrate the boxing style "Muay Chaiya", known for its defensive techniques. The event will take place from June 30th to July 2nd, 2023.

2nd event
Date: July 14-16, 2023
Venue: Central Korat
Experience content: Muay Korat
Description: Nakhon Ratchasima's martial arts technique known for powerful kicks and punches and wide-angle punches known as "buffalo swing fist"

3rd event
Date: August 11-13, 2023
Venue: Wat Yai Tha Sao
Experience content: Muay Tha Sao
Description: A fast and versatile fighting technique of Uttaradit, combining Thai and Chinese martial arts techniques.

4th event
Date: August 18-20, 2023
Venue: Phra Narai Ratchaniwet or King Narai’s Palace in Lop Buri (tentative)
Experience content: Muay Lop Buri
Description: A fighting technique that quickly avoids attacks

Each event will include Muay Thai fights, talisman tattooing, sales of amulets and talismans, Muay Thai related interactive activities, Muay Thai art performances, and music concerts and more.

This Muay Thai experience event aims to provide tourists with valuable and unique experience by utilizing the strong soft power of 5F (Food, Fashion, Film, Fight, Festival). By promoting the legend of Muay Thai in this way, they hope to encourage tourists to travel to the areas associated with the event and increase Thailand's tourism revenue.

Thailand's first monorail "Yellow Line" starts collecting fares from July 3, 2023
Thailand's first monorail line "Yellow Line" (30.4 km, 23 stations) connecting Ladprao, Bangkok to Samrong, Samut Prakan, will start collecting fares from 3 July 2023. Fares range from 15 to 45 baht depending on the distance.

Passengers transferring to the Yellow Line from another line operated by MRTA do not need to pay the flag-fall charge. Even when transferring from lines operated by other operators, the flag-fall charge will be waived only if the transfer is completed within 30 minutes.

In addition, the MRTA Board is considering introducing various promotional tickets such as student tickets, ticket sets and monthly tickets to encourage further utilization of the Yellow Line.

The Yellow Line began trial runs with passengers on June 3. Fares are free during trial runs, ad the business hours were from 6:00 am to midnight, and the operation interval was 5 to 10 minutes.

Special operation of a Japanese steam locomotive between Bangkok and Ayutthaya on July 28, the birthday of the King of Thailand
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) celebrates the birthday of His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn (Rama 10) on July 28, 2023 (Wednesday), and operates a steam locomotive between Bangkok and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya (Central Ayutthaya). The locomotives used are Pacific 824 and Pacific 850 made in Japan.

On July 28, the train will depart Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) Station at 8:10 am, arrive at Ayutthaya Station at 10:20 am, depart Ayutthaya Station at 4:40 pm, and arrive at Bangkok Station at 6:55 pm.

Tickets are already on sale from June 28th. Round trip fare is 299 baht for 3rd class, 799 baht for air-conditioned vehicle.
