Thailand plans to double flights by the end of 2022
In Thailand, restrictions on entry has been relaxed from May 1st. Test & Go has been lifted, and the number of overseas travelers by air have increased dramatically.

The Thai government plans to further deregulate of entry in June, and they will abolish all entry restrictions, including the abolition of the Thailand Pass. And endemic declaration is scheduled on July 1.

In the midst of these deregulations, the Thai government and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand plan to increase the number of flights to 83,500 per month at airports in Thailand by the end of 2022. This is about double the current 44,500 flights.

Tourism is the main industry in Thailand, but there are tourism rivals in neighboring countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, and Singapore, which are economically highly dependent on tourism, and Thailand has to compete with these countries and need to win the competition for getting foreign tourists. On May 1, 16,868 people entered Thailand at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok. The cancellation of Test & Go has greatly contributed to attracting more foreign tourists.

However, pre-registration of Thailand Pass is still required. Tourists are very dissatisfied with the Thailand Pass, which requires individual registration and the tour agency cannot register all tour tourists at once. The Thailand Pass is scheduled to be abolished on June 1, and if the Thailand Pass is abolished, the demand for tour tourists can be expected and it will be possible to attract more foreign tourists to Thailand.

Since the pandemic, all business owners involved in the tourism industry have suffered great financial damage. The increase in foreign tourists since May 1 is expected to see a great light for business revival for these tourist business owners. In the future, deregulation will continue to progress all over the world, and it is hoped that world can escape from the pandemic as soon as possible.
