16th World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony Held in Ayutthaya
The 16th World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony will be held on March 16th and 17th, 2014 at Wat He Lang Cacao in the ancient city of Ayutthaya, about an hour's drive north of Bangkok.

This is the first time in four years that this event has been held. At the previous competition in 2019, more than 1,500 Muay Thai boxers from 70 countries gathered in Ayutthaya to participate.

Several events are scheduled at Wat Langkakhao, including the sacred Wai Kuru ceremony, set against the backdrop of the dramatic ruins of Wat Mahathat.

It is a tradition for Muay Thai boxers to attend the annual World Wai Kru Muay Thai Ceremony held in Ayutthaya at least once in their lifetime. They come from all over the world to celebrate the ancient martial art of Muay Thai and express their gratitude to their masters and trainers in time-honoured ceremonies.
