Chiang Rai Airport to be closed until August 5
On Saturday, August 1st, Nok Air Flight DD108 slid off the runway and made a belly landing at Chiang Rai Airport.
On the day of the accident, it was once announced that flights could resume at 10pm that day. But work stalled as cranes and other equipment were needed to lift the plane out of the mud and tow it, and it was announced that the airport would reopen at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3. However, as of 3 August, the aircraft had not yet been removed from the crash site, and the change was announced again, with the airport closed for a further two days and scheduled to reopen at 10pm on Friday 5 August.
Mae Fah Luang Airport in Chiang Rai usually has 36 departures daily and carries an average of 4,500 to 5,000 passengers per day. But with only one runway, the accident is likely to halt all takeoffs and landings for at least six days, affecting more than 30,000 passengers.
Airport staff are working hard to get the work done, and it is hoped that the runway will be restored as soon as possible.
Thai Nok Air resumes Chiang Mai-Korat route after four years
Low-cost carrier Nok Air has resumed its airline route between Chiang Mai in northern Thailand and Nakhon Ratchasima, commonly known as Korat in northeastern Thailand, on 1 August 2022 for the first time in four years.
There are two scheduled flights per week. The aircraft used is a Q400 (economy class 86 seats). The flight schedule is as follows.
Chiang Mai ⇒ Korat
DD9330 CNX20:45 NAK22:15 Every Monday and Friday
Korat to Chiang Mai
DD9331 NAK5:30 CNX7:00 Every Tuesday and Saturday
Ticket prices start at 2,099 baht.
The first flight on the first day of reopening took off from Chiang Mai International Airport at 8:45pm on August 1 and landed in Korat at 10:15pm. A total of 66 passengers were on board.
At around 9:06 pm on July 30, 2 days before flights from Chiang Mai to Korat were going to resume on August 1, Nok Air's Boeing 737-800 from Bangkok (Don Mueang Airport) to Chiang Rai flew DD108 to Chiang Rai slipped off the runway due to heavy rain, and the fuselage touched down and stopped when landing at the Chiang Rai airport. It is reported that none of the 164 passengers and 6 crew members on the flight were injured. After the accident, the Chiang Rai Airport Authority will close the runway until 10:00 pm on August 3. Due to this accident, all flights that were originally supposed to arrive in Chiang Rai were rerouted to Chiang Mai. As a result, Nok Air's Chiang Mai staff were overwhelmed with work to transfer passengers from Chiang Mai Airport to Chiang Rai, but due to the prompt and appropriate work of the staffs, the first day of the Chiang Mai - Korat flight on August 1st went off without a hitch.
Nok Air launched a new route between Bangkok and Betong in April, but it was unable to acquire enough passengers, and the service was suspended soon after the launch. On the other hand, it seems that the Chiang Mai-Korat flight was able to gather passengers smoothly.
Nok Air's flights from Chiang Mai to Korat are currently two flights a week, but they plan to increase the number of flights to three flights a week in the next three months to test the degree of attracting customers.

Top 5 dating apps to use in Bangkok (2022 edition)
Thaiger News has introduced a dating app that can be used in Bangkok, so we introduce it on this site.
In Bangkok, like other cities, it is difficult to meet people at work or in bars. Dating apps come in handy at such times. With just a few clicks, you can meet potential romantic partners.
Below are five of the most popular dating apps in Bangkok.
While Tinder and Bumble match people based on simple profiles, OkCupid uses a detailed personality survey to improve the accuracy of matching compatibility with people you want to meet. From the gender and sexual orientation of the person you want to date, to the type of relationship you're looking for, lifestyle, politics, religion, and more, the poll lets you choose everything. People who are particularly particular about the characteristics of the person they want to meet are more likely to meet someone who is closer to their tastes.
OkCupid also allows you to only message people you match, so you won't be bombarded with messages from people you're not particularly interested in. The app is mostly popular with people in their 20s and 30s, but is liked by people of all ages. It is also widely used for meeting foreigners and Thai people.
The world's most popular dating app Tinder. This app is very popular in Bangkok. The charm of Tinder is that it is easy to use, and the message function is also very complete, so you can easily meet people. Even if you use Tinder for free, you can meet enough people, but by using the paid option, you will be able to meet more people.
Tinder is LGBTQ friendly and offers many opportunities to meet people. In this way, they provide a wide range of support for meeting people with various ideas, but most of their users are between the ages of 18 and 35.
ThaiCupid is currently the largest Thai dating site with over 3 million users in Thailand. With over 2000 people online at any given time, it's easy to meet. The site has many features such as detailed profiles, translation services, advanced search capabilities, audio/video chat, and more. The dating matching algorithm is also good, so you can easily find the date you want. We also have a strong anti-spam policy.
ThaiCupid can be used for free, but the functions available for free use are limited. In particular, the free usage does not allow you to send messages. You can reply to messages by registering for a premium membership.
Most ThaiCupid users are between the ages of 25 and he is 45, mostly Thais and foreigners looking to meet. Some users are looking for long-term relationships, but many of them are looking for temporary encounters.
Badoo lets you choose whether you just want to talk, go on casual dates, find a serious relationship, or keep an open mind when you sign up for the app. Users can also participate in live video chats with each other.
The profile to be registered is only basic information. The focus is on matching people with similar dating interests, while also giving you the opportunity to see who's nearby.
The types of people you meet on Badoo are very similar to Tinder, with a large number of foreign men and Thai women registrants looking for casual, casual relationships.
Bumble is an app created independently by a Tinder female ex-executive, and the basic functions are the same as Tinder. However, the biggest feature of Bumble is that women can lead everything. On Bumble, the very first message must always come from a woman. So women don't need to receive messages from men they are not interested in. Also, men have the benefit of knowing that the girl who sent the message is already interested in you. This app is highly beneficial for both women and men.
Bumble is only for people looking for serious relationships, so it's not the app for people looking for casual, quick encounters.
Dating apps are often let you meet people who are really different from what you imagine when you acually meet people, and in most cases it takes a long time to develop a deep relationship. Also, when seeking short time encounters, more expenses are often required. Therefore, for travelers, it seems that there are many cases where time and money are wasted as a result and it is not suitable. But feel free to give it a try.
Reconstruction of tourism is the most important factor for Thailand's economic recovery in the second half of 2022
Ms Chayawadee Chai-Anant, senior director of the Central Bank of Thailand, said tourism is a key driver of Thailand's economic recovery in the second half of this year.
As reported on this website the other day, about 767,497 foreign tourists entered Thailand in June 2022, and in May 2022 the previous month, 521,410 foreign tourists entered Thailand. As a result, the number of foreign tourists has increased by about 240,000 in 1 month. The Central Bank of Thailand predicts that about 6 million foreign tourists will enter Thailand in 2022, but the situation in May and June shows that it could be expected the foreign travelers more than the Central Bank of Thailand predicts will visit Thailand.
According to Thai Central Bank executives, the Thai economy is supported by personal consumption and consumption by foreign tourists, and in the second half of 2022, the growth of these two consumptions will enable the Thai economy to recover.
Thailand's economic recovery is accelerating, with GDP growth at 3.3% in 2022, some in both June and the second quarter and some economic indicators will improve, according to Ms. Chayawadee Chai-Anant, senior director of the Central Bank of Thailand. However, she adds that there are still some uncertainties in the world that affect the economy and that economic conditions need to be closely monitored.
The Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) said on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 that this year's Thai economy will maintain an average growth of 3.5%, supported by tourism. In addition, the FPO predicted that the number of foreign tourists entering the country this year was 6.5 million as of April, but has revised it upward to 8 million from this forecast.
After the relaxation of Thai immigration restrictions, the number of foreign tourists entering the country has continued to increase month-on-month for almost all nationalities. This can be said to be largely due to the Thai government's abolition of the Test & Go entry scheme on May 1, 2022, and the relaxation of immigration restrictions.
With the return of foreign tourists to Thailand, the Thai economy is also recovering. It is expected that more foreign tourists will visit Thailand in the second half of 2022.
